Landscape services

The team at Groundsmasters takes pride in its ability to handle any exterior issue. As a full-service landscape architecture firm we offer :

> expert analysis and consultation. Every lot has it's unique features. We help you find and magnify them . . . whether you're building a new home or enhancing an existing one.

> site plan development that considers all aspects of your environment: prime locations for vegetation; ease of access; efficient drainage; strategic irrigation - all working in harmony with your existing site.

> waterscapes. From custom pools, ponds or waterfalls to hot tubs and free-standing fountains, water features add interest and diversion to any yard.

> stone work, masonry and other, more permanent structures to help define your grounds in ways that natural elements can't. Consider rock walls, wrought-iron fencing, stucco or concrete terracing.

> exterior lighting. Funcitional illumination not only makes paths and decks safer, but careful dramatic placements can transform your nightime exterior into a fantasy land.

> easy irrigation systems. Proper placement and equipment selection can make all the difference in a sprinkler system. We do everything possible to make the watering chore easier and less wasteful.

> planting plans. Central Texas has some unique planting challenges. Deer and drought-resistant species are featured, along with the widest range of flora available for Zone 8 gardening.

A TYPICAL LANDSCAPING PROJECT begins with a thorough site analysis and consultation to determine your goals and desires for your exterior environment. We'll determine key elements that are already in place, identify the primary additions and examine any potential trouble spots before continuing.

Next we'll develop a site plan, complete with contour changes, new construction, access and planting areas clearly marked. This phase usually requires two meetings and sometimes a round of adjustments to the original drawings. Initial decisions about type and size of tress, shrubs, lawn and flowers are made as the site plan takes shape. So, too, are sprinkler head placement and pipe routing. The compeleted site plan includes a rough timetable that outlines which portions of the project will be completed in what order.

Once the plans are approved, the earth-moving begins. Ground contour and permanent construction elements take place in this phase, as do trenching for underground pipes and electrical wiring. (This will be the most disruptive time in the landscaping experience. We make every effort to keep the noise down and take great pains to leave existing vegetation in it's current state, but some of our happiest customers schedule vacations for this part of the job.)

When the earth stops moving, we begin bed-building and soil preparation. During this portion of the project we'll also be selecting specific species for each planting area. We work regularly with several suppliers, so we're able to get prime specimens of almost anything that grows in Central Texas.

Finally, it's time to install the new trees, shrubs, grasses and flowers. Finish work on the irrigation system and lighting fixtures is completed at this time, too. We leave you with instructions on how to care for your new environment and references to reputable groundskeeping services if you are interested in professional maintenance.
